“The Word of God is not like your ordinary pack of gum. It has a taste that fulfills & satisfies but it does not dissolve nor grow tasteless. It’s substance lasts forever (1 Peter 1:25). Contrary to gum’s custom of not swallowing, the scriptures are inadequate & impractical unless we decide to digest them instead of chewing them up then due to our sin-natured preference, spitting them out. Gum is cheap & disposable; the Bible is not. Gum loses it’s flavor over time as it gets watered-down; the God-breathed Book of Life withholds eternal truths that cannot be downplayed no matter how much involvement Satan has in this culture. We have the tendency to expel gum once it can no longer meet our expectations. Ironically, we tend to creak the door open just enough for Christ to enter in our lives but once He asks for us to present ourselves completely as a living sacrifice (Romans 12), no longer serving our own agenda, we shut the door immediately on His face.”
Moral of the story:
1. Stop attempting to water down the power of the Word by your superficial “Christian” behaviors.
2. Choose to be all for God or all for yourself, there is no in-between.
3. Clearly I am a gum-fanatic.
